February 1, 2018 - 30th Annual Shorewood Kiwanis Wild Game Dinner Fundraiser

[SOLD OUT DECEMBER 2017, CONGRATULATIONS TO COMMITTEE CHAIR LARRY LOZO] One of the "big three" in Shorewood Kiwanis fundraising efforts.  This popular event has raffles, wildlife artists and more.  The dinner is superb using recipes passed down from past member Lenny Palermino and carried forward by his son, Chef Len Palermino.

March 15, 2018 - Shorewood Kiwanis Annual Goodie Bag Wrap

43rd year and still going strong!  This event is our pre-event to the Shorewood Kiwanis Special Needs Children's Day at the Ice Show, see more information below.

4:15 PM-6:15 PM at Senior Activities Center, at St. Clair Shores Civic Arena, 20000 Stephens Drive, SCS, MI 48080 We provide every attendee with a goodie bag containing a juice box, chips, (2) fruit snacks and a package of Swiss rolls. We need all hands on deck for this packaging event - we always make extra for volunteers, and hand out 2nd's if available during intermission.  However, due to time constraints, we only have the room until 6:15 - 2 hours to create 1050 bags! Contact Karen Biafora, Committee Chair, direct if you wish to participate in this event at (586) 350-5219 or webmaster@shorewoodkiwanis.org.



March 16, 2018 - Shorewood Kiwanis Special Needs Children's Day at the Ice Show

45Th year and still going strong!  Shorewood Kiwanis works in conjunction with the St. Clair Shores Figure Skating Club Annual Review and provides one of the most appreciative audiences ever.  During their dress rehearsal, our special guests come, and their only expense is the cost of transportation to get there.  We drop the boundaries of SCS and have guests coming from as far away as Port Huron, Capac, Washington, and Detroit.   As of 3.5.16, we have 1000 RSVP's for guests, chaperones and teachers.  Of this 1000, 60 guests will be in wheelchairs.


June 16, 2018 - GWillies Pub Pedal to benefit Shorewood Kiwanis Foundation/Autism

June 23, 2018 - Shorewood Kiwanis & Life Handicapped Outdoors Co-Sponsored Event - Handicapped Children & Adults Fishing Derby

Life Handicapped Outdoors has been hosting this event for 21 years. A driving force behind this event is our own, Lou Calloia, who has worked in conjunction with Life Handicapped Outdoors to host this amazing event. Shorewood Kiwanis is pleased and honored to be a co-sponsor of this annual event as part of our continuing community outreach for special needs children and adults. Breakfast, a snack and lunch are provided, at no cost to the attendees. All the fishing equipment is provided and at the end of the event prizes and awards are presented to the participants. No separate fishing license is required. Tax-deductible donations toward this event are gratefully accepted and much appreciated. The Macomb Chamber Music Society has been partnered with Shorewood Kiwanis since 2009.

The Shorewood Kiwanis 50th Anniversary celebration gifted The Summer Concert Series to the City of Saint Clair Shores. They believe that service and education to our children and community is a number one priority. This is our eighth Season – where Mom and Dad and their children can come to listen and delight in a fine music performance for the “right price” (Free).  Please continue to attend, enjoy, and support this unique experience.

One of our favorite projects! This is our time of year to take 25-40 families in need shopping at our new co-sponsor for this event Meijer, for back to school clothing. Each child has a budget of $100.00 and is accompanied by a volunteer to help them shop sales and make their allotment go as far as possible! Meijer isn't very busy at this time of day, but it I important so we can get through the store quickly and check out in a timely fashion. If you wish to volunteer in this truly rewarding and fun project, contact Project Chairperson Sharon Gwizdowski at sgwizdowski35@gmail.com to join the team or even recommend someone in true need. Additionally - please do not "show up" without an RSVP confirmation from Sharon G, at the same email noted above. Only those that have qualified, and approved, can shop. Be sure to receive prior authorization from Ms. Sharon at the same email address to join this limited event, our first experience at this generous location of Meijer's.


Kiwanis District of Michigan Foundation Ticket Sales - RIGHT NOW!

A few months ago The Michigan District of Kiwanis Foundation sent out 10 raffle tickets to over 4500 Kiwanis members individually. The request was for each MI District Kiwanis member to sell these tickets for a minimum donation of $5.00 each.  This fundraiser is in place of past Golf Outing Events as the major fundraiser for our Foundation.  The work that our Foundation does for children's hospitals (Motts Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor; Detroit Children's Hospital, Detroit; Mary Freebed Hospital, Grand Rapids; and Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey) is one of the best things about our Michigan District.  Even if you have to buy all the tickets yourself, please support this worthy cause. August 8, 2018 Co-Sponsored Event, 40th Annual Handicapped Children's Fishing Derby

40Th Annual Handicapped Fishing Derby Hosted by Island Harbor Marina and the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MPBA)

One of the largest handicapped fishing derbies in the area. 9/8 to 9/9 2018 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Program 

Sponsored by Shorewood Kiwanis and the St. Clair Shores Police Department. 

Once again the above organizations are sponsoring the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Program.  This training is mandatory for anyone born after January 1, 1960 who wish to purchase a Michigan Hunting License.  It is also mandatory for anyone who wishes to hunt in Canada or another state. Priority will be given to persons attending this class who attain the age of twelve (12) year by September 30, 2015.  AL THE PAPERWORK NEEDED TO JOIN THIS PROGRAM IS LOCATED AT THE FRONT DESK OF THE SCS POLICE DEPARTMENT.  REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW! October/November 2018 - Shorewood Kiwanis Dictionary Project

All Month Long!

October is Shorewood Kiwanis's month to deliver Special Dictionaries to every 3rd grade student in St. Clair Shores and Harper Woods.  These books go far beyond a normal dictionary, providing charts, some geography, lists of presidents and more.  This year, Credit Union ONE (a recent sponsor of the Harper Cruise) is sponsoring this project by providing the funds to purchase close to 1000 books.  If interested in assisting with the deliveries, contact Dr. Carl Papa at drcarlpapa@AOL.com.  To learn more about our generous sponsor, simply click on their name to visit the website.

In memory of Shorewood Kiwanis member BETTY SILADKE - dearest Betty was all about Literacy and Education.  This project's goal is to have a fantastic time for our Christmas Gathering, while raising $$$ for the charitable fund in Shorewood Kiwanis - The SK Foundation is a real 503(c) organization and all proceeds from this event are donated right back to the community to be utilized for Key Leader Camp, Scholarships to graduating seniors plus, our new foundation effort for Autism - another great idea from our benefactor Barry Ludvigson and partners at GWillies.

Enjoy good company, good food [20% of all food tickets will be added to our earnings to this day], plus 2 50/50 raffles 1 during the first half of the game and another drawing at the end of the game, before we make the ultimate raffle drawings at the end of the game. So, good raffles with good prizes for a great cause! OH, did we forget to mention that we will have THREE SEPARATE WINNERS THIS YEAR?  We are nothing, if not flexible. We listened to the feedback and will have 3 winners this year: our first drawing winner will receive $750.00 cash; 2nd drawing winner will be the amazing wheelbarrow of cheer, donated by Barry himself and the generous vendors of GWillies, est. value in the neighborhood of $1k and then our third drawing winner will receive the ultimate, 2 hockey tickets on the GLASS at the new Little Cheasar's stadium /complex. In memory of Shorewood Kiwanis member BETTY SILADKE - dearest Betty was all about Literacy and Education.  This project's goal is to have a fantastic time for our Christmas Gathering, while raising $$$ for the true charitable fund in Shorewood Kiwanis - The SK Foundation is a real 503(c) organization and all proceeds from this event are donated right back to be utilized for Key Leader Camp, Scholarships to graduating seniors plus, our new foundation effort for Autism - another great idea from our benefactor Barry Ludvigson and partners at GWillies

Enjoy good company, good food [20% of all food tickets will be added to our earnings to this day], plus 2 50/50 raffles 1 during the first half of the game and another drawing at the end of the game, before we make the ultimate raffle drawings at the end of the game.  So, good raffles with good prizes for a great cause! OH, did we forget to mention that we will have THREE SEPARATE WINNERS THIS YEAR?  We are nothing, if not flexible. We listened to the feedback and will have 3 winners this year: our first drawing winner will receive $750.00 cash; 2nd drawing winner will be the amazing wheelbarrow of cheer, donated by Barry himself and the generous vendors of GWillies, est. value in the neighborhood of $1k and then our third drawing winner will receive the ultimate, 2 hockey tickets on the GLASS at the new Little Cheasar's stadium /complex. The odds of winning are terrific, only up to 500 tickets available, same donation per ticket of $20.00. No Need to be present to win the top 3 prizes - all 50/50 drawings you MUST be present to win.
